Volunteer Update:

All volunteers should have now been contacted by their CVO Organizational Leader with details about your volunteer position, reporting location, and start time.

Please check your email and if you have not received this information, please contact your Organizational Leader as soon as possible so you’re fully prepared for Derby Day.

As a valued CVO Volunteer, you play an essential role in supporting your organization and help to make the Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby such a successful event. You represent your organization, the Derby, and the entire community—helping us showcase the very best of Lac du Bonnet to hundreds of visitors.

A few key reminders:
• Confirm your shift with your Organizational Leader and notify them right away if anything changes
• Arrive 15 minutes early to your assigned location, ready to go
Parking will be at a premium, so please factor this into your travel time to ensure you arrive on time for your shift
• Dress appropriately for your role as most shifts are outdoors

Sign in with your Section Supervisor at the start of your shift
• Wear your Volunteer ID vest and t-shirt. Please return your Volunteer ID vest after your shift. The t-shirt is yours to keep.
• Water and snacks will be available at the Volunteer Centre on the ice near the Prize Distribution Centre

Thank you for your time, your energy, and your dedication to this event. We couldn’t do it without you, and we look forward to an incredible Derby together!

2025 VOLUNTEER TEAM

$12,953 Raised for Community Organizations!

We are beyond excited to announce that the Lac du Bonnet Ice Fishing Derby has paid out an incredible $12,953 in CVO hours to the community organizations that volunteered at this year’s event! These funds will go directly to support the amazing work these groups do in our community and surrounding area.

A massive thank you goes out to the 188 volunteers from the following organizations who not only helped raise funds but also played a huge role in making this event a resounding success:

249 Air Cadet Squadron, Alzheimer’s Society, Auglen Park & Community, Bird River Fire Dept, Boreal Shores Art Tour, Eastman SnoPals, École Edward Schreyer Girls High School Hockey Team, Fire & Water Music Festival, Jacks Animal Rescue, Kids Snowflake Bazaar, LdB Community Garden, LdB Cross Country Ski Trails, LdB Curling Club, LdB Fire Department, LdB Library, LdB Lions Club, LdB Trails Association, LdB Wildlife Association, LdBSS Grad, LdBSS Travel Club, Lutheran Church of the Cross, Manitoba Darts Zone 2 Association, Pinawa Panthers High School Hockey Team, REFUGE Youth, Abundant Life Chapel, Survivor's Hope Crisis Centre

From selling raffle tickets to distributing prizes, you all played an essential role in creating an unforgettable experience for everyone. We are incredibly grateful for your time, energy, and enthusiasm.

A special shoutout to the Hole Drilling Teams from the Cadets and the Pinawa Panthers High School Hockey Team, who drilled over 2,100 holes in just one hour—now that’s teamwork!

We would also like to extend our thanks to the ACCESS Credit Union Team for assisting with the Check-In & Wrist banding Station, and to Keith from RBC for capturing the smiles of our happy random prize winners!

Additionally, we want to highlight that the Identification Vests, funded in part by the Lac du Bonnet Foundation, were a total game changer! They allowed participants to easily identify the volunteer position they were looking for, making the event run smoothly and ensuring everyone was in the right place at the right time. We would also like to thank Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries for supplying us with t-shirts for all of our volunteers as well.

Together, we made this year’s Derby an unforgettable success, and we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you! Thank you again for your dedication and support. We are already looking forward to next year!
